    Detailed programme

We offer to spend a week in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia with the Sovanna Phum company of dancers and musicians, whose aim is to preserve and promote traditional Cambodian performing arts (shadow theatre, classical dance, folk dance, theatre, circus, etc...)

The Khmer traditional music orchestra, the "Pin Peat", consists of:

    - Drums

    - Traditional guitar (Chha-Pei Dongveng)

    - Wind instruments

    - Percussions (Khong touch and Thom)

    - Xylophone (Ro-niet)

    - Flute (Sro-lai)

The Chapei is the bards' instrument. Sometimes accompanied by one or two musicians, but most often on his own, the latter roam the Cambodian countryside, singing the bittersweet, critical, even satirical, chronicles of daily life and the political situation of the country. Between 1975 and 1979, aware of its scope and its political force, the Khmer Rouge sought to make this blues "disappear from the Mekong, without however succeeding. Kong Nai is today one of the most illustrious representatives of it.

The courses are given by professional dancers and musicians, trained at the Royal University of Arts of Phnom Penh.
Groups are small to ensure that everybody gets attention from the teachers.
