Embark on a wildlife safari to discover the flora and fauna of Borneo
The program takes place in Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. Borneo is a place of great biodiversity, but the regression of the tropical rainforest poses a threat to many plant and animal species.
That's why our partner, APE Malaysia, is developing programs to raise awareness of these problems and the means to solve them. The organization focuses on the conservation and improvement of animal welfare, both in captivity and in the wild.
As a volunteer, you'll help plant trees in the forests of Lower Kinabatangan, where flora and fauna are abundant but threatened by habitat loss. You'll be able to accompany the local community and observe orangutans, macaques, hornbills and other Borneo wildlife in their natural habitat.
Sample activities:
7 days: April, May and October: from 21st to 27th of each month, 3 to 9 november 2026
12 days: from 21 June to 2 July and from 21 September to 2 October 2026
You can volunteer for 7 or 12 days
You'll live with the village community, the Orang Sungai or “river people”, to discover their way of life and join them for meals.

The program takes place in Malaysia, on the island of Borneo, which is politically divided into three countries: Malaysia and Brunei to the north, and Indonesia to the south. Most of the project takes place in Sukau, a small village located in a magnificent nature reserve along the Kinabatangan River, on the Malaysian island of Borneo.
