An authentic experience in Jordan's Wadi Rum desert!

Luisa fell in love with the natural grandeur of the Jordanian desert known as Wadi Rum Having a deep commitment to environmental preservation, she noticed, with great dismay, that the growing human footprint had begun to spoil the pristine beauty of Wadi Rum (a UNESCO protected area) with waste, some of it plastic, and environmental degradation.So she decided to set up targeted clean-up actions with the Plastic Free Association, which fights against plastic worldwide. She became co-referent for Wadi Rum.With the help of local people, occasional missions are planned throughout the year and sometimes schoolchildren join too.
At a time when environmental awareness is increasingly imperative, such an important and collaborative initiative not only benefits Wadi Rum, but is now spreading to the surrounding areas.
Her many visits to Jordan have enabled Luisa to forge friendships with local families and people. She’s been able to immerse herself in their culture, experience authentic encounters and feel on the same level as them.Today she would like to share these encounters by offering these participatory holidays.
Day by day programme:
- Day 1: Arrival in Amman, night in Mabada
- Days 2 to 4: Transfer to Wadi Rum, stay with a Bedouin family, cooking activities and visit to a women's cooperative
- Days 4 to 6: Bivouac, introduction to the rababa, Bedouin songs, caring for camels, baking bread, meeting with a nomadic Bedouin woman
- Day 7: Visit of Little Petra, Bivouac
- Day 8: return to Mabada for the night
- Day 9: return to Amman airport
