I enjoyed getting to know this area of France with the French family and also independently while they were at work. In addition, I enjoyed discussions with the French family to learn about French culture, economy, history, politics, and way of life.

J'ai adoré l'école, les professeurs, leur gentillesse, les cours proposés totalement adaptés pour des débutants qui ne connaissent pas grand chose au flamenco. Et bien sûr Séville était superbe..

Tous les cours étaient regroupés dans même école et le logement était également proche. Les personnes de l'école ont été à l'écoute et de bon conseil pour recommander des activités.

J'ai aimé le savoir-faire d'Abdou, le potier. Souriant, sympathique, à l'écoute. Il a su m'expliquer les techniques et me guider dans mes gestes.

Nous avons bien profité mais la pluie, attendue depuis fort longtemps, a limité certaines découvertes ( défournement ou visite chez un autre potier réalisant de grandes jarres ). Sinon, de beaux échanges et des rencontres, de très beaux paysages et une belle expérience de poterie avec d'autres approches.

This has been my fifth placement with Aliore and I feel very lucky as it has been one of my best. My host, the nicest a language assistant could wish for, welcomed me with grace and affection. I feel I have made a new good friend. What made my placement great has been the perfect match between me as an English language tutor and my student host A.M. Both shared similar age and values, in essence, the desire to contribute to society and to have good quality social interactions. Convivial afternoons with her friends have been frequent. I have enjoyed imparting my host regular ESL lessons. Her high motivation to learn English made my job easier and pleasant. She has actually expressed her satisfaction with the program which, as she said, has given her confidence in using the new language which in turn helped her improve her English language skills. During my stay my host has offered me the opportunities to embark on educational excursions. Together we travelled to mediaeval cities outside Lyon, visited museums and places of cultural interest including the museum of the Lumière Brothers, French manufacturers of photography equipment, and earliest filmmakers. My placement ended with being part of the wonderful celebration of the Basilica Our Lady of Fourvière, one of the major symbols of Lyon. Whilst my placement has been wonderful, I regret one thing: having made little progress in improving my French. Unlike previous experiences, on this occasion I did not find ways of practising French in a group setting outside the household, along with other ESL tutors . No doubt it has been my lack of confidence in seeking guidance with this particular issue. I am truly grateful to my host and most of all to Soizick, the most wonderful founding member & manager of Aliore. Her choice of placement has been perfect! Thank you so much Soizick, you are indeed the best! Thank you!

I have recently returned from four weeks in central France as a Language Assistant through Aliore. The experience far exceeded my very high expectations. The family warmly welcomed me into their home and immediately made me feel as a member of their family. I enjoyed speaking English with the parents as well as the children. It was a pleasure to help the teenage boy with his English homework. In the evenings the entire family and I played games together in English. On the weekends the family took me on wonderful sightseeing trips and during weekdays they made sure that I had interesting activities. I would love to have the family visit me here in the U.S. and I hope to see them again on my next trip to France. Soizick Chartier, the founder and director of Aliore, is always available to answer any questions. She takes a personal interest in matching Language Assistants with families, which results in excellent experiences for everyone.

Égoïstement Je suis presque tentée de ne pas recommander cet endroit tellement je souhaiterais le garder secret! Un paradis sur terre ! Il serait cela dit intéressant de préciser que cela n’est pas idéal pour les personnes à mobilité réduites sans voiture.

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur le programme proposé par Aliore, en faisant une recherche internet pour trouver une solution d'améliorer notre anglais avec un anglophone. Tout s'est fait très rapidement : 1 mois et demi après avoir finalisé notre dossier, Zach est arrivé pour 7 semaines à la maison. Ce fût une expérience enrichissante humainement et culturellement pour toute la famille. Les progrès sont au rendez-vous et notre fille de 9 ans, s'est aussi prise au jeu et est fière de pouvoir réutiliser des phrases apprises avec Zach.

Belle découverte d’Aliore, le choix de la personne proposée a été parfaite par rapport à nos attentes et qui nous étions. Cette belle écoute a permis un échange parfait entre notre famille et notre américaine. La mise en relation a été parfaite. Bien au delà nos souhaits. Une vraie complicité s’est instaurée avec une personne nous correspondant parfaitement. Une belle rencontre et des échanges multiculturels et linguistiques extraordinaires. Je recommande vivement cette association et ce type d’échange.

Très belle rencontre, toute la famille a été conquise par cette aventure ! Nous avons tout aimé. Haley est une personne extraordinaire, la découverte d'une culture différente, l'approfondissement d'une langue étrangère et le plaisir de faire découvrir notre belle région et notre culture à Haley.

Très bonne expérience pour mon fils encore mineur 17 1/2 . Autonomie, premier job pendant 3 semaines , le tout en anglais et tout de même très sécurisé car il était mineur. Arthur a passé 3 semaines merveilleuses. Il a pourtant beaucoup stressé au départ car ne se sentait pas à la hauteur au niveau anglais et un peu perdu . Mais au bout de 48h ....je n'ai plus eu de coups de fil, ce qui est très bon signe. Je l'ai trouvé plus mûr et plus sur de lui au retour. Il avait un travail et était considéré comme un employé avec un emploi du temps, tout ça en anglais . Il a rencontré beaucoup de gens et s'est fait un tas d'amis comme lui. Son seul regret c'était d'être mineur ....car il n'a pas pu accéder le soir comme il le voulait aux appartements de ses amis majeurs !!! Cela aura été une excellente expérience pour Arthur.

This was a really fantastic experience. I spend six weeks with a family in coastal, western France (Pornic, in the Loire Valley) and came away with lifelong friends and a real cultural experience. We went shopping and walking together, cooked together, went on many family excursions (clamming, Puy du Fou, took the train to Nantes to visit museums and gardens, beach combing, family farm, dinner and bbq with friends and family, etc.) and played a lot of cards! This part of France sees mostly French, German and Swiss tourists so I heard very little English (and most people spoke very little English) so it really forced me to use and practice the little French I had which was a great but also very challenging experience. The family and I managed to communicate just fine, however, with a combination of our language skills (Franglish!) and miming and drawing and Googling. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. The process was easy with the help of Soizick from Aliore. She was always quick to respond and answered my many, many questions which really put me at ease during this whole experience. When my Homestay was cancelled two summers in a row due to Covid she stayed in touch and worked with me to find another family this summer! Seriously a top notch company and experience. I would highly recommend it.

I had the greatest experience with Aliore. I was with the most incredible family in the North of France. I was able to visit so many different sites, travel around on my own a bit, and most importantly, meet so many amazing people! Aliore was so helpful, and I’d recommend this program to anyone looking to take on an adventure in a beautiful and diverse country.

Fue una experiencia espectacular tal vez la mejor de toda mi vida. Llegue desde colombia y la asociación siempre estuvo pendiente de mí desde antes de llegar a Francia. Posteriormente en el voluntariado conocí personas extraordinarias que me comprendieron pese a no hablar el idioma y me enseñaron demasiadas cosas que nunca pensé haber aprendido. Finalizó el voluntariado muy feliz y con esta magnífica asociación que me brindo el máximo apoyo y acompañamiento.

J’ai énormément apprécié ce programme, j’ai rencontré des personnes formidables. Joan est très investie et à l’écoute, c’était très agréable de travailler pour la ferme. La récolte et la production du sirop d’érable de A à Z ont été mes activités préférées. Je reviens chez moi avec un meilleur niveau en anglais et pleins de supers souvenirs! Je recommande à 100% le bénévolat dans cette ferme, merci encore!

Grâce à ALIORE, j'ai pu partir en toute sécurité pour vivre une expérience très enrichissante dans laquelle je ressors grandie. J'ai aimé la méthode d'apprentissage de Michael qui est une approche très différente des clubs équestres français.

The family was extremely kind and they lived in the beautiful countryside. I picked up a lot of French, especially everyday phrases that I never learnt at school. The family did everything possible to make me feel at home, and I feel that their English improved as did my French. It was a very genuine experience, and I’ll definitely be keeping in touch with the family. They also made a huge effort to immerse me into their culture with our evening meals etc, and asked lots of questions about my culture in return. Merci beaucoup to Soizick and my host family!
