With help and training from our weavers working in a women cooperative in the Old M'Hamid village, you will weave a small rug and take it home with you.

Day 1: Arrival in Ouarzazate. Night in a hotel (for late arrivals).

Day 2: Travel from Ouarzazate to the Riad through the magnificent Drââ Valley. Settling down in the Riad and discovery of the surrounding area and people.

Days 3 to 6: Workshop days.
The yarn, either animal or vegetal, is carefully selected, washed, spun and finally dyed with natural pigmentation.
The wooden or metallic weaving looms have wire warps and the warp beams are wooden with a rectangular base.
Weaving on these looms produces in rugs with fringes on one side only. The weft is a natural woolen yarn, and patterns are created by using tie-dyed wool. The patterns are knot-free as all the yarn threads are reed-threaded and combed with a heavy duty reed, which allows you to weave very tightly.
Because your rug can be removed from the weaving frame, you will be able to carry your rug with you and continue working on it whenever you want.

As the rugs are made from old clothes, it is possible to come with your own to make your own rug.

Day 7: Conclusion of the workshop in the morning. Return trip to Ouarzazate in the afternoon. Night in a hotel.

Day 8: Return flight (or travel to Marrakech)

During the workshop, you will have time for wandering around the sand dunes, relax around the swimming-pool, go to the hammam, walk into the palm grove…or just do nothing.
