Portuguese cuisine is based on several influences, from Mediterranean, former colonial possessions and wide variety of spices used originally from Asia.


Learn the portuguese traditional dishes and share it with your friends and family on special occasions. It will be a wonderful surprise, new flavors they can taste and it will be always a surprise and a different experience for them.>

This programme will combine a food tour to discover Lisbon through places where Portuguese go to taste, eat and drink, a market tour to buy fresh ingredients, 2 cooking classes and a pastry class.


Dates : the programme is available all year round. It starts on a Wednesday and ends on Friday evening. It is possible to organize other days if those days were not suitable for you.

Location : : The cooking school is located in the centre of Lisbon near the metro stop Anjos.



Detailed programme: :

1/ Start your culinary programme with the Food tour! A local guide will take you into a journey during 3h30m on the fascinating historical and ancient part of the Portuguese capital. Real neighbourhoods, local history, architecture and urban culture. You will visit six local businesses and people, totally away from touristy spots or crowded places. Places where portuguese go to taste, eat or drink in a relaxed environment.

Bring comfortable clothes and shoes to walk about 1,6 km (1 Mile). The tour starts at 3 pm (please arrive 10 minutes in advance) from Largo de São Domingos (near Rossio).



2/ The following day, you will directly buy fresh ingredients for the Cooking Class going to the market! Do you know any other place than a market to understand traditions?

You will be delighted with the variety of colours, fresh vegetables and variety of fresh fish and shellfish. Fresh ingredients are the basis of the Portuguese cuisine.

The chef/instructor will then teach you how to prepare a traditional Portuguese meal consisting of fish dish, meat dish and dessert in a hands-on experience! Finally, you sit down and enjoy the meal you have prepared with your new foodie friends together with excellent Portuguese wines.

Starting at 10 am, the market tour and cooking class end at about 3 pm. The chef will meet the participants of the Market Tour at the school.



3/ On Friday morning, come at 9 am and learn how to make the famous pasteis de nata and other traditional pastries. During 2h00 you will learn how to use the ingredients and secrets to make those traditional pastries.

Pastéis de Nata born in the 18th century at Jerónimos Monastery in Lisbon. At the time, monasteries and convents used huge quantities of egg-whites for starching of clothes, such as nun´s habits.

The egg yolks were used to make pastries and cakes, resulting in the proliferation of the Portuguese sweet pastry recipes.

Then, have a brunch to taste your delicious Pastéis de Nata and other pastry (can be travesseiros de Sintra, Papos de Anjo, Toucinho do Céu, among others), while drinking a juice or a coffee in a very relaxed environment.

Come back in the evening at the school for another cooking class starting at 6.30 pm (ending around 10pm). The chef/instructor will teach you how to prepare another traditional Portuguese meal consisting of fish dish, meat dish and dessert. Then you will seat down and enjoy the meal you have prepared with your foodie friends together with excellent Portuguese wines.



At the end of your programme, you will know how to prepare a traditional Portuguese fish dish, meat dish and a dessert that will delight your senses!
You will be able to take home the recipes with the ingredients, portions and every detail allowing you to replicate them at home and impress your friends!
