Detailed programme

Protection and care of wild animals in a sanctuary.

The Ambue Ari Sanctuary is a wildlife reserve located in the department of Santa Cruz. The sanctuary was opened at the beginning of the 21st century with the aim of providing a home for a growing number of rescued wild animals. In the Guarayo native language, “Ambué Ari” means “new day.”

The Jacj Cuisi sanctuary was opened in 2008 and covers an area of 300 hectares. Its location is linked to Madidi National Park, a 1.8 million hectare reserve and an ideal location for reintroduction programs. In the local language, Tocana Mosetan, “Jacj Cuisi” means “land of dreams.”

As a volunteer, you will actively participate in the daily care of the animals, ensuring their well-being, feeding them and observing their behaviour. You will also be involved in cleaning and maintaining the enclosures to ensure a healthy and safe environment. You will take part in educational and conservation activities, such as awareness workshops and support for environmental initiatives. Depending on the season, you will also participate in reforestation and environmental maintenance activities, contributing to the restoration of local ecosystems.

At the Jacj Cuisi sanctuary, the animals present are coatis, white-faced monkeys, capuchin monkeys (requires a 2-week stay to care for them), spider monkeys and squirrel monkeys (requires a 22-night stay).

At the Ambue Ari sanctuary, the animals present are birds, coatis (requires a 2-week stay to care for them), monkeys (requires a 21-night stay), felines (requires a 30-night stay and 45 nights for jaguars).
